Bought a complete brand new keyboard because I didn't want to mess around trying to fix a single inoperative "Home" key (was broken on the used D600 I purchased). The whole keyboard didn't cost much more than a single replacement key. I also read that replacing a single key can be a time-consuming hassle. Installation is about as simple as can be imagined. Replacement instructions are on the Dell support page and involves simply carefully prying loose a cover strip over the power and audio control buttons at the top of the keyboard, removing 2 screws, lifting up the old keyboard and disconnecting the plug. Install the new one by reversing the steps. Takes about 5 minutes. Unfortunately, my brand new keyboard has an issue with the "pointing stick" circuit that causes loss of cursor control with the stick, Touch Pad and/or external mouse (USB or PS/2). I didn't think the problem was worth returning the keyboard (it cost $8). Since I don't use the stick, I disabled it by downloading the Alps Touch Pad/Stick control software from the Dell support site and now everything is fine. Even without any technical skill, replacing the keyboard is simple and straight-forward.Read full review
I bought this keyboard for my wife. The item stated it was new. I don't believe that to be true. The tabs that the screws go in has battle scars, as if it were already in another machine. Also the space bar isn't the easiest thing in the world to type with. When my wife types it looks like she hates to his the space bar and words runtogetherbadly.
I bought thinking it fit in a D610. No such luck, it fit and worked but I had to cut the tabs to make it fit until I got one for the D610. $5 was a deal if it had fit.

The connection on this keyboard is a snap on type, unlike the newer ribbon style clamp that are very thin and sometimes hard to insert. Keys are nice and firm and sturdy.
I'm sorry in taking so long in writing this review. I have tried to write before but was always told there was something wrong and could not fill this out. The keyboard was delivered alot quicker than I expected and was in perfect shape. It was supposed to be used but it looked like new. Would love to deal with this person again Wade Smith
