Well the easiest way to put it, I love it! lol I've always known Alpine to be a good brand especially in the speakers. I've had friends who've had Type R's and they've always sounded good. Nice deep hard bass, I know a lot of that depends on your enclosure as well but you have to have a good sub to initiate the good sound. For the size of the sub it can handle quite a bit of power. I went with all Type R in my car speakers and bought the Alpine 5 channel amp to run it all. For now the 5th channel on my amp will suffice, I will be looking to upgrade that since it only puts out a maximum of 500W. Alpine recommends for this sub to have amps putting out 500-1000 watts. So I know there is more potential there waiting to be unlocked. :) I love how sleek and good looking this sub is both on the front face and overall. Love the idea of having the seal that covers all the screw holes and just makes it look clean. Haven't found anything I dislike about the sub per say, that is the sub's fault. I dislike that I didn't get a strong enough amp to push it, but that will be changing. I would definitely recommend this sub to anyone who wants good hard sound with a 10" sub. Lastly, I'd just like to say make sure you do your research and you find the correct enclosure that is not only built to the spec of the Alpine Type R sub but also correct based off the type of music you listen to!Read full review
Great product! And superior sound Alpine has really come along way the type R 10 out basses any sub I've previously owned A+ product. This speaker has no trouble hitting the lowest bass in fact at high volume it sounds even better. Good luck finding an amp to push it to the limits.
1.4 cu foot ported box. 675 watts going to it at a 4 ohm mono load. Works excellent. Have it in a Toyota Tacoma and really puts out clean precise bass. This is the smallest sub I've ever owned. Previously it has been only 12's or 15's since the 1980's. Pleasently surprised at the output and presense. Not a hear for blocks bass head ride, but certainly performs inside the truck. Happy with the purchase and the small space it needed. Looked at lots of 10's and for the money the Alpine was the best bet for the space it needed and its frequency response.
