I bought the Adams Idea pro #1 16* hybrid on ebay with Aldila Proto 80S stiff graphite shaft based on its higher raiting from different users. I played the club for a few rounds and found it is not easy to hit solid due to its club head lie somewhat upright designed for taller players like 5'7" and up. It is not forgiving either although it is a player's club. I can hit some solid shot on nice fairway lies but distance does not outperform my other hybrid, even 18* cobra speed pro hybrid, mostly goes about 175-185 yards. Mishit shots could be even worse. I don't want to brag that I could hit 250 yards with this club but taller player will due to its club head lie design. Actually I have owned lots of Adams golf clubs including A2, A7 iron set and found they all comes with the upright club head design. Unfortunately Adams golf does not offer customized fitting. That is why many players chose to buy Ping clubs with customized fitting. For the price I paid for, I am not pleased with this club. Overall, there is no accuracy and stability, nor distance. In order to play this club at your preferred lie, you need cut the shaft at lease 1.5 inch short which will also sacrifice your distance when hitting well.Read full review
I've personally played a lot of different hybrids...but this is, in my opinion, one of the best of them. LONG, STRAIGHT (most of the time), EASY TO HIT. I would have rated Callaway Diablo Edge Hybrids as the best, but I don't like their loft and Swingweight of D0. For HIGH Handicappers, take my advice and go with Callaway Diablo Edge Hybrids. THEY ARE THE BEST FOR HIGH HANDICAPPERS. But for mid to low handicappers, the ADAMS IDEA PRO is top notch. My only problem with them and that I have a tendency to hook them off the deck, but as they say, "it's the indian, not the arrow" :)
If you don't like how you hitting a 3 or 2 iron this is the club for you. It's like hitting an iron but a whole lot easier. It's forgiving and has a great launch angle. It is pretty easy to put a draw on it, but it is harder to put a fade on it. Imagine a oversize 2 iron with a huge chunk of metal on the back and you've got the idea. With the balls spinning as little as they do these days it's time to throw out you 2 and 3 irons and put this in your bag. Also it's a whole lot better than a 5 wood too, because you can actually control the ball much better than you would be able too with a 5 or 7 wood.
I have 3 Adams Idea Pro Rescue Clubs, a 3,4 and 5. I purchased all of them on eBay. I find them to be very well balanced and quite easy to hit. It seems I can use a swing which allows the club to apply most of the force to launch the ball. I like the higher launch angle they provide. I can see why these clubs are held in such high regard especially with senior players like myself. I have owned other brands of rescue clubs and none of them compare favorable on any level with the Adams Idea Pro brand.
These clubs have cured me of 1 and 2 iron use. Where those irons are not as hard to hit as many believe, they are NOT as flexible in their use. One trajectory is what you get. The Adams Idea Pro hybrids allow high shots, low shots, and amazingly, can get MORE distance than the irons they replace. With a 1 iron, I got about 235 from a clean fairway lie and max 250 off a tee. The Adams 2 IRON hybrid gets those numbers. I've hit it 240 from the fairway. I'm sold on these clubs for long iron replacement. Mid iron and less, I still prefer an iron.
