Secrets Can Kill was a great mystery to solve. You could travel to a diner, a high school, and Nancy's Aunt's house. There were puzzles and clues all around. There were plenty of people to talk with. One funny thing about it was that a lot of times, a conversation would end with them saying, "I'm out of here." Then they would just go back to reading a book, or tossing a football. Why I didn't rate it 5 stars? There wasn't any one reason I rated it four stars, but there a couple things that led me not to enjoy the game as much; 1) In order to get into the school, you have to switch between disk 1 and 2. Then, when you go to the Boiler Room, inside the school, you have to switch disks yet again! 2) There are too many books in the Library with information useless to help solve the mystery. 3) The overall time it takes to solve the mystery is too short. It took me 10-12 hours to solve this one. It took me 20+ hours to solve The White Wolf of Icicle Creek (#16). My #1 hint is to call Bess, George, and Ned very often. Lastly, this mystery was easier than the mystery at Icicle Creek and I would not think it would be worth getting a strategy guide, as it would not help a whole lot.Read full review
I bought this game because I wanted to see if I could solve the mystery. I like how the game puts you as Nancy Drew. The game doesn't solve itself and finding the truth really does depends on your detective skills. When I first started the game I had not idea about how to solve a mystery. This game teaches you as you play. Some puzzles are harder than others, which makes the game worth playing. Would you want to play a game that was too easy? The game keeps you guessing all the way to the end. The one thing I did not like about this two-disc game was having to change the disc when I entered or exited the school. I got annoying after the eight time I changed the disc. A few times I accidentally push the wrong button and was exited from the game, losing all of my progress. All in all, I am happy with this game and I am glad I bought it.Read full review
I bought this because I wanted to play EVERY Nancy Drew game available. I have played several in the past and LOVED them. But, if you have played any other Nancy Drew games in the past, this one is disappointing. You can definitely tell this was "Her Interactive's" first ND game. There are some quirks like having to switch from disk one to disk two over and over depending on which location you want to reach. There are several buildings to "investigate" but every time you go from one to another, you have to physically switch disks. You also have to click on the sides of the screen several times to turn instead of having the auto spin feature as in the newer games. There is not much talking in the game either. I like that I was able to add this to my "solved cases" but this is not one to play over and over. I highly recommend the later games, though.Read full review
I have played all herinteractive Nancy Drew games ever made so far, and this one was like a classic, it being the first. But it is not my favorite. It was made a long time ago, so therefor the animation is not the greatest. The story is still good enough to have fun with though! If you liked the other Nancy Drew herinteractive PC games, then I believed you shall like this one. There are lets see...... 20 games now made by herinteractive inc. SO..... if you want one with the latest graphics and technology..... you might try some of the newer games. Like the one just realised this summer, "The Ransom Of The Seven Ships" Nancy Drew PC game. If you are a TRUE Nancy Drew fan, you will enjoy this.
My daughters enjoy the whole series of these games.
