A common thread in my musical travels is the US and Britain, both musical giants in the 60s. As a consequence, regardless of geography, bands, even top bands, cover American and British music. This four-CD, 99-song set is no exception. While the covers are interesting for a play or two, I'm familiar enough with the originals that I'm rarely impressed with themβand covers there are in this set. For example of the twenty-six songs on disc I, thirteen are covers, nearly all sung in Spanish. So it goes on the other three discs. The single band that repeatedly served up their own stuff is Los Salvajes, arguably the best band in the set with 9 songs, IIRC. Another terrific band, singing in English, is Kaleidoscope. Rather than this box, I'd recommend purchasing the two above-mentioned bands. You'll get the spirit of the times without the fluff and radio commercials.Read full review
