The N93 is heavy. It is dated (2006) and some of its pieces are obsolete. So, why get one now? It still does all the stuff it did in 2006, quickly and, if you are familiar with Symbian OS, with little or no learning curve. Let's look at what is dated first: § It has a pop port for physical connectivity § It takes a miniSD card 2GB maximum capacity § It has a 2mm Nokia pin charge port § No touch screen § IR port § small external color screen § WiFi is b/g The pop-port is a multi-pin proprietary interface that allows the device to be connected to headphones, hands-free headset, TV, and computer, just not all at the same time. It serves the function of a microUSB on a modern device as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack. It takes a dedicated Nokia CA-64U cable for TV out. It takes a Nokia CA-53 to connect to a computer's USB port. A variety of headphones and hands-free units that worked with the Nokia 6126/6131/6133 will work with this. The miniSD card form factor is rare and expensive unless you use an adapter to fit a microSD to the phone. The 2 GB storage limit per card will limit how many songs or photos you can carry with you. So, what is so appealing about this phone? § Nokia voice/call quality § Carl Zeiss lensed 3.2 megapixel camera with flash § Responsive and easy to use 12 key numeric pad § Some extra keys for direct navigation to apps § Extra five way scroll pad on side of phone § Several different modes of operation It is a Nokia N series device so it is entertainment focused. Music player, RealPlayer video, good camera with adequate flash are all there. The camera comes with a lens cover that you will want to tether to the phone so it doesn't get misplaced. It takes stills and video, the latter at DVD quality (640 @30 fps) The browser loads regular web pages and renders them very close to the appearance of a desktop browser, at 320 x 240 pixels at a time. Contacts are handled well with multiple numbers per person allowed. Updating the device's firmware is simple if you have the CA-53 cable and a copy of Nokia software Updater. The small chrome scroll pad on the side is intertesting to use. It allows you to operate the device like a small video camera. About those modes, there are four of them: Fold-closed mode When the fold is closed, the main display deactivates and the cover display lights up. Fold-open mode When you open the fold, the fold-open mode is activated automatically: the main display lights up, the keypad is available, and you can access the menu. Image mode When you open the fold to 90 degrees, hold the device sideways, turn the fold down so that the main display faces you, and the image mode is activated. The main camera is activated, and you can see the image to be captured. View mode When the fold is closed and you lift the side of the swing axis display when the fold is closed, the view mode is activated. Battery life is fairly short considering the small screen and the large battery. Flash uses up the charge quickly. If you are not using the flash you will get better performance out of it. This is a fully functional device for making calls, taking pictures and listening to music. It has a certain "cool" because of the unique form factor. If you are needing a full keyboard, large screen or other stuff commonly found on today's smart phones - look elsewhere. If you are willing to handle the quirks it is a fun phone to use.Read full review
The main reason I bought the N93 is of course the 3.2mp camera. It works, but you get good image quality ONLY under well lit conditions. Indoor shots are poor/noisy/blurry. Unfortunately there's no way to set ISO so you really can't escape noise unless the lighting is VERY good. The built in flash is mostly useless. Video is quite nice, but again if lighting is good. Other functions like phone, PIM, Internet, email, mp3, mp4, etc are OK, as with most modern phones. Overall I'm quite impressed, but expected more from the camera.
Great phones I love that it has all features you can ask for and more-, side view & Keyboard, Flip LCD is great also, wifi,Microsoft Office, MP3, Fm Radio & much much More, I dislike the Voip- service & reception is not as good as Nokia E65-ALso don't like the size of phone-kinda big & awkward.
Okay The nokia N93 a Great phone IT is the next generation phone for real. This phone has a 3.2 mega pixel camera and the lens are made by Carl Zeiss Many of you have heard of this particular lens many haven't Most sony cameras lens are made by carl zeiss. The video quality to this phone is great picture perfect!! The best part of this phone is that you can flip it anyway you want!! the widescreen view is the best view you can put MP4 movies in the phone and watch it all your favortie sitcom and movies can be loaded into the memory and you can watch it on the phone I used the TV OUT ALL THE TIME it is so clear you will be surprised All this is comming from a phone. When the phone rings there will be a electronic voice saying the persons name calling you. The flash is bright and you can control everything just like a regular camera. This phone has so much features including Radio, and you can listen to MP3 nokia throws in a 512 memory card too. The call quality is crisp you can hear everything perfect. The best part is that the ring tone is loud so and the vibrate is strong so when you are in a very noisy area you will defintely feel the vibrate or hear the ringtone. So anyone who plan on getting this phone get it, it is worth every penny trust me check the nokia website before you buy it read all the features and see if you like it yourself if you dont believe me.Read full review
Nokia N93 is the world first digital camera/camcorder capable cell phone that goes up to 3.2 MP with DVD-Like video quality. Came with the cool Twist and rotating screen, you can pretty much position the camera, adjust your shot angles. Also, the digital camera also can function as a digital camcorder that produce some high quality home video with TV out support which allow you to connect the phone to TV and play your recorded images and video. Voice command & memo allow calling and making voice notes without even have to open up the phone. Video calling function allows you to see the caller by stored images. The built-in USB port allow connections for standard USB to any PC and the nice thing about this is window XP will pick up and automatically install driver for the cell phone and most of its features. The phone is equipped with actual 2.0 Bluetooth and Stereo FM radio that actually work! The rest are pretty much standard for most of the Nokia phones from the 9500 series and up. The main disadvantages so far are the built-in memory (only 50MB) and the miniSD slot. Not all types/brands of SD Card are supported. So far, I had tried my 4GB Kingston a 4GB A-DATA SD card and they seem to work fine, however, my generic house brand 2 GB SD card was not pickup nor read by the phone, I was able to read it from my laptop and my friend's Samsung phone. I’ve tried to format it in couple different format and also wide out the whole card as "raw drive" but regardless of how I format the card; the phone just won't take it. The standard phone package came with a 128MB SD card which work fine with the phone. If you need more space and decide to purchase a larger SD card, I would recommend A-DATA card, for the warranty, the speeds and the price. It would be much more worth-to-spend money if Nokia employed the DVB-H functions from the Nokia N92 phone on this Nokia N93 phone. Overall, it a really cool and worth-to-buy phone. As of right now, cost per unit runs around 700USD.Read full review
