The Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 rifke scope is well worth the money. I compared the Nikon Monarch and Leupold Vari-X lll. (And just for curiosity sake, I also looked at a Swarovsky and Zeiss.) Not only was the Nikon significantly cheaper, but the clarity of was much better than the Leupold.. I believe dollar for dollar, this scope is comparable, if not better than, to the Swarovsky/Zeiss scopes. Unless you just wanted to spend $1500-$2000 on a rifle scope, I would highly recommend the Nikon Monarch. The side focus, which is very easy to use, and the 4 inches of eye relief make this scope very comfortable and easy to use.
These are some of the best optics for hunting rifles you will ever own. They are clear, precise, and tough! Nikon optics have been world leaders for years, especially for camera lenses.

Excellent Clarity and low light transmission much better than expected. On my first shot after sighting in. I was afforded the opportunity to have an extended range shot. And,was able to drop (I do mean drop)a wild Hog at 390 yds w/1 shot through both shoulders with my .308WIN Thompson 28" Stainless fluted barreled Pro-Hunter. A truly excellent pairing. This scope for it's quality was a real bargain price!!
Great optics. Very clear. Mounted on Remington 300 ultra mag. No problems at all with recoil. Able to consistently hit 6 inch square at 500 yards. 16 power very helpful at this distance. Side paralax focus is on the money. VERY PLEASED! Great scope for the money.
