For decades, I had used a scope (my very first), from another manufacturer, on my Marlin 30-30 and was pleased with its performance. Last deer hunting gun season here in Pennsylvania, in the fog and rain, the scope reached its last day of usefulness when i looked through it and saw that it had water and fog on the inside of the scope. Upon returning home, I did some research on-line as to the better scopes, or even best scope, to fit my needs in the field; i.e. up to 100 yards in wooded areas, sometimes very thick, and in ALL kinds of weather. I was excited about the features of the Redfield Revolution 3x9 40 mm rifle scope, excited about Redfield's historical focus on quality and the company's current connection to Leupold. As of yet, I have not fired the gun and probably won't until deer gun season later this year. But, the other night i took the scope to Kinsey Outdoors to have it professionally mounted on my rifle. At the store, I was excited, very excited, when I brought the scope up to my shoulder and immediately had a field of view that filled the entire scope (a problem with how I had mounted my original scope). When I got home, I was able to place the cross hairs on a red laser dot and learned that the fine adjustments to the scope where a simple turn of the knobs; without needing a screwdriver like on my prior scope. The adjustments were so user friendly, that i was able to make the adjustments while looking through the scope at the red dot. Another thing that I noticed with this scope is that it seemed to me to "brighten" an object in low light conditions even better than my original scope. I can't wait to see how it holds up in rain, fog and snow in the field. LIKES: all of the features. DISLIKES: adjusting the power from 3-9 is stiffer than I was used to on the older scope. It will take some getting used to, but it is NOT a deal breaker.Read full review
Bought this for a weatherby vanguard series 1 sporter chambered in 30-06. It's a great scope for the money. The hold over points given are accurate for many loads and the light transfer is great. The reticle is not custom etched for the cartridges that I often shoot, so a bit of practice at various ranges out to 400 yds. would get you the hold over info you need. After boresighting, it only took six rounds to have it shooting sub- moa and still was after 40 rounds fired out of a rifle that, for it's caliber, kicks like a mule. Lifetime warranty. Plenty of eye relief for me. Perfect for deer hunting. I wouldn't think twice about taking a shot at 350 yds. after firing only 20 rounds at the range. The weather seals on the turret caps are water tight and the turret clicks are easy to feel. The matte finish produces no glare off of the tube. Glass is very clear and the accu-range reticle helps a lot for getting on the "x" at long ranges given the 9x maximum magnification. Mounted it with Leupold Std. Mounts. Though it depends on the rifle, this scope sits perfectly (very little clearance) with "low" rings. Would highly recommend the scope, especially for the $150 that I paid for it.Read full review
Only con is i wish they still made gloss finish scopes. Love this scope, the Accu-Range is great how it draws your eye front and center with 100 yard increments below center as a quick reference when needed. Adjusts so easy it was able to be zero'd in with 7 rounds.

This is my second Redfield Scope. The best things like about these scopes are the clarity and eye relief. I am replacing a Vortex scope that came my Mossberg .308 rifle. The Vortex scope was a bit hazy and took a little longer to focus down range. Good price too!
