This hockey game will appeal to the people who like to play their sports games as realistic as possible. There are "sliders" or meters that you can adjust to make the game as close to the real feel of hockey. When you make your adjustments, it affects the statistics as well. You do have to have some patience to tweak the game to your liking. There is some trial & error involved, however once you get your parameters set, it is worth it. The controls are very responsive, but again, they take some getting used to. There are quite a few moves and some combinations to master, but it is not just a button mashing contest. You will have time to think about what you want to do with the controller once you practice a few times. The cinematic camera in this version works well. Its a little like watching it on tv except its not the side view; kind of a semi first person view. The graphis are typical PS2. But what makes this game is the details you can adjust regarding how much simulation you want.Read full review
I've bought this game for the past 3 years, and it's the best sport series ever. I'd put it up against Madden '04, ps2. Graphics are cool, but gameplay is what seperates the men from the boys. If you think you are paying for a superior product just because EA's game is more expensive, think again. 2K Sports doesn't advertise as heavily. WHile EA is pushing the game, 2K is making theirs better. Goalie Realism, the AI is extremely intelligent. If you ever play EA Hockey games, you try to get the Defensemen to play the blueline, they are half retarded. The offensive schemes are more realistic on 2k sports, the Dekes, the passing the defense, and the checking isn't just outrageious where guys are hitting the ice every time you hit the check button. If you try to reach in for the poke check skating backwards, you can get deked easily. You have to play smart. There are no EASY BUCKETS!!! EA's version is for the hockey-ignorant southern player who likes the big hits and knows nothing about hockey. 2k7 is for the realist. The game presents more of a challenge too. It will take you a couple of games to get accustomed to the controls, but once you learn the advanced controls, the passing, shooting, backwards skating is so sweet. I'm from Arkansas, and I'll put this series above the Madden Series. That's saying alot. If Hockey were popular in the south (or in the United States below Michigan), this game would sell way more copies than Madden. Oh, and it's only 20 bucks...the reason I bought it 2 years ago when ESPN owned the game. It's gotten DRASTICALLY better every year. PLus like the guy before me said, the extras are cool too. Online it's a blast, where you can create/join leagues. 2 years ago I said it was the best 20 bucks i ever spent. I say that every year. Once you get good, you get hooked. It never gets old. Realize the first guy's rating is about Ebay. Not even the game. Good review above me too. Right on, bro.Read full review
This is one of those games where you can't wait to play it and once you have it you can't stop playing. The gameplay is great and the graphics are great as well. If you are a hockey fan or just liked watching the Stanley Cup Championship you'll find this game fun and addicting. It also has a party mode where you and up to 3 other players can go to battle in 15 mini games that can be bizzare but are fun nonetheless. OVERALL 4 out of 5
I really liked the game-play in NHL 2K7. Very fluid and the graphics are pretty sharp for the PS2 format. I really don't like the "alternative music" that comes with the game. With a couple of tweaks in the set-up options, I can enjoy the sweet sounds of game-play, the crowd, and the arena sounds. Since I'm a San Jose Sharks fan it's nice to see Mr. Joe Thornton made the front cover. For the cost of the NHL 2K7, (a cheap seat at "The Shark Tank") I can enjoy the front-row seat of game-play... Enjoy!!!
If you are looking for a great hockey game than look no further. This game is like being at the game. You can almost feel every hit and feel the crowds energy when you break up a play or score a goal. The grafix are great the interface is good. The only draw back is the options screen, they can be confusing sometimes. JUST BUY IT, IT JUST AWSOME!!!!
