Great CD set giving a spectacular overview of this part of Sir Paul's career. Selling for $50-$100 or more elsewhere. So many hits... and so many "non-hits" that got a lot of radio play. This is the perfect document to celebrate the 70's and 80's of Paul McCartney's career with Wings, Linda and as a solo artist. Excellent! Highly recommended.

I just finished reading Tom Doyle's "Man on the Run: Paul McCartney in the 1970s," so I purchased the two-disk set of "Wingspan: Hits and History" by Paul McCartney, which nicely complements the book. I had already learned about the former Beatle's struggle to form and maintain a road band, so I wanted to hear the creative results of that effort. If you lived the 70's (as I did), then "Wingspan: Hits and History" may be a nostalgic journey. That is, unless you were caught up in the musical genres of alternative, metal, disco, punk...(as I wasn't). It was that kind of decade. Regardless of one's personal choice, it's impossible to ignore the impact that Paul McCartney, the most influential composer of the twentieth century, has had and continues to have on pop music. This double disk offers his musical approach in the 70's, and based on McCartney's creative range, that view is panoramic.Read full review
i met paul & linda mc cartney outside the academy awards parking lot as they were waiting for their limo. he was nominated for the song "yellow submarine". they were like a couple of lovebirds with very short spiked hair cuddling & laughing together. i was thrilled when they offered me a ride, but had to decline. i was about to separate from a difficult marriage & seeing them so happy gave me hope. after my divorce i listened to paul's "WINGS" album about a million times. he's insight & compassion got me through. his voice like an angels. i was worried about "WINGSPAN" as i had been so attached to his original work i foolishly thought nothing would come up to it. i was wrong. he has not lost anything over these years, but instead has become even more himself. an elegant pixie, jolly wizard & above all a loving caring soul. i am so happy he has continued to work in spite of all his life's challenges. he is & always will be my hero & a blessing to all who love life.Read full review
Having been a Beatles freak for most of my life (13 years old when they first hit America), I' m down for most anything regarding the Fab Four. However, post-Beatles is a different planet. With that said, Sir Paul's solo and Wings material, spotty as it is, is for the most part pretty catchy stuff. I constantly find myself humming along to one of Macca's tunes in my head. Buy this...it'lll make you happy.

Mostly good, some great, material by Paul McCartney during his "Wings" era. There's a few that aren't recognizable as Paul McCartney. I was looking for a greatest hits format and this fits the bill. However, I would have liked it better if it had some of his solo stuff too, but I can't complain because the ad clearly spelled out what was on it. It's interesting to speculate what these songs would have sounded like if the Beatles had done them. There's a couple that are as good as anything the Beatles did, but there's some stuff that sounds flat or deliberately silly which I don't think would have made the cut.
