This book about the theories and philosophical perspectives that underlie the practice of landscape architecture I consider to be a "real gem." It is a actually a collection of scholarly essays and papers by a number of well-known academicians and practitioners who have been active in the profession since the 1950s, and covers the various approaches to site and landscape design that have been used since that time. While this book is not a "light read", and really needs to be digested in measured installments, it will, however, make the reader think; which was its key point for being assembled, as it was. The critical analysis and experienced perspectives shared will provide the patient reader with many hours of helpful and insightful ideas to consider and use in one's landscape architectural practice. I consider this title to be one of the top three most important books in my own professional library, and I would strongly suggest and recommend that it should be considered a "must have" addition to the libraries of any other landscape architect colleagues who are truly serious about bettering their understanding of our varied profession. Highly recommended!Read full review
