I don't have kids, but a whole slew of nieces and nephews. This book, as she states is good for children that are being raised and children already grown. It has helped me have more patience and understanding with all of my nieces and nephews and appreciate who they are. When you are reading this, you realize the things that were said to you, that you felt you had to change to have your parents approval at a very young age. I now choose my words carefully when speaking with them. She is by no means saying let them do what ever they want and no discipline or consequences. Carol is trying to help us learn that each person is different not only on the outside but the inside. What I find interesting and fun is not the same as my sisters. We need to remember this when dealing with siblings, and understand why your child does what she or he does because they are made that way and it is just their nature. When we force children to be who we think they should be, we are putting conditions on getting our approval and love. There are not enough positive things I can say about this book. I recommend it to everyone I meet and we talk about books. Buy it.Read full review

This isn't a life-changing book, isn't extremely helpful. It basically tells you to notice what type of child your child is (and it describes the types to help you figure that out), and then to keep that type in mind as you parent your child so you can help him/her succeed. Good idea, but it isn't revolutionary and probably didn't need such a long book. I only read a few chapters.

Awesome book! I am a nurse so I've studied personalities in school, but I found this simple and refreshingly easy to grasp! And anyone who needs to know this information needs it to be as easy as possible to understand. I got a new perspective on some colleagues that I find difficult to work with! I can't say enough good about this read! It's not that the information is new it's just that the way she explains the traits is a more positive way of seeing each personality. I even learned a few things about myself. She also has a blog with tons of info, and it can all be applied to adults as well as children!
This is my second copy... I lent the first one out so much that I eventually never got it back. Easy to read and gives a unique point of view on personality types and parenting. Highly recommend.
