This author was very popular during the 40s-60s for her wholesome commentary on life in this country and in the country. Her wisdom and insights are still true today and she has a message about human nature that reminds us that people are the same the world over and have struggled with the same issues in every generation. She writes in a lyrical uplifting prose and includes beautiful poetry of her own and others. This book is a joy to read and savor.

This author, Gladys Taber has written different books about Stillmeadow. They are down to earth, wonderful and full of animal stories and human interest, good moral content books. This was bought for a friend who named her place, Stillmeadow after this endearing book and author. I have purchased other books too by this same author as presents to this lovely friend whom has always appreciated them so much. Of course, I read them first because we share in finding a book with such great wisdom and clean reading.
I bought the book and others by the same author for a friend who had enjoyed Gladys Taber's articles about Stillmeadow published in various magazines years ago. She had enjoyed them so much and I was pleased to find Taber's books available on eBay. I have read several of them, including The Book of Stillmeadow, and think they are great. Her descriptions are so vivid that I feel as if I am there with her, her family and her pets. I and my daughter bought all that were listed on eBay, and I look forward to reading them all.
I bought this book because I am a big fan of the author, Gladys Taber. The information within the book is very old -but never out of fashion. All Taber books are an inspiration. There is no author today who can compare. I will always be on the lookout for other books by this author that I don't already have.
Filled with wisdom and completely appropriate for the present day.
