Great for when the little saw is not enough. I use my MS190 for about 90 percent of my tasks. the 190 is light and powerful enough to cut branches, do ground work when limbs are being lowered down etc., and cut down small trees. When things get bigger or speed is needed, I get out the MS310. It is definitely heavier, which, I am old enough to really notice, but, has plenty of power to run the 20 inch bar. I always run the gas out of it before letting it sit for long, and always mix stihl oil in the gas. Don't forget to keep the chain sharp too.

The song that was pictured some of it would be my fault but some of it was not listed it has a broken chain brake handle it also has a switched out pull cord cover that goes to a different saw the saw was listed as an MS 310 and it shows an MS 350 which I have no idea what a 350 is. Also it came with missing sprocket cover nuts and it does not idle it leaks gas it's just an overall this appointment

I have had this model for several years now and do a lot of cutting from dropping trees, brushing to cutting for firewood. Great saw, with great balance and excellent safety kick back bar. Not so much vibration and at the end of the day you feel less worked over. Use Stihl bar oil and clean your air filter often and alway's make sure the chain is securely tight with no excess slack. One key thing to remember here is use the high quality synthetic oil for the oil gas mix. This produces less smoke and also has better fuel stabilzers too, when not using the saw a lot. Also a biggy use premium non ethanol fuel, a must or you will pay the price down the road. I have seen numerous saws, lawn mowers and others come in with injecters ate up as the etahnol damages the parts. Overall I give this saw a five star rating as it will do just about what ever the normal person needs to do.Read full review
My Stihl 310 chainsaw is a beauty - but. Fortunately it has turned out well. It could have been a disaster because I did not watch all of the conditions of sale. There was a 'no return' statement that I didn't see. If I had seen it I might not have bought it. Buying without seeing is buying on faith. Also, I noticed that few others bid on it. That was unexpected. They probably were wiser than I. I was expecting other bids and so bid fairly high at first. I probably could have gotten it for significantly less. However, it has turned out to be as good as I hoped with probably a little more wear on it than I expected. It needed a new spark plug which says it had been used significantly. I have learned to be more aware and cautious but it has turned out good enough.
I don't know completely if it's the saw or mby the blade is very dull on my ms290 but I'm in love with this ms310 took it out and I'm cutting thru things like a breeze where before it would take a bit and bog down it seemed with the 290. I'm very happy I got the ms310! seems to have plenty of power and a very nice saw
