I chose a new band saw after finding used saws locally costing almost the same. Saw works great for my small wood projects. The adjustable arm for saw exposure is easy to use. I made a fence clamping wood to the table for ripping wood. Works great for short length ripping. I would recommend that Rockwell include a rip fence.

Pros: It is compact Cons: I had to return the saw because it is improperly designed. Both the upper and lower thrust bearings that bear against the back edge of the saw blade are installed sideways. In both cases, the side of the radial ball bearing is being used as the surface against which the saw blade bears when sawing. The bearings should be located such that the outer ring of the bearing is loaded radially, not axially. To fix the problem, the bearing brackets need to be re-designed. Until this is done, the eccentric adjustment of the bearings cannot position the blade on the wheels. Also, there is no fence for making rip cuts or cross cuts of large pieces.

Setup is pretty simple, but you will need a feeler gauge to align the top and bottom blade guides. I've cut everything from thin stock up to 1-3/4" wood for my turkey calls. Much more precise than a jig saw.

Very sturdy, high quality construction. Easy set up. Frankly I'm shocked at the level of quality at such a low price.
