I bought this for a pawn shop find that had a lot of closet burn and almost no use. It's an 870 Express Magnum and the finish on this barrel almost perfectly matches that ugly glass beaded, grayish finish all the Express have. So that's good. That's if you are a fan of that spray bed liner and cheap wood look. ;~) The barrel dropped right in and it seems to be a good fit. The first couple of rounds cycled a little clunky, but it smoothed right up. It does give me concern about bolt clearance and head space. So I'm going to check that, then run it a little and make sure I'm not getting any bent parts, ignition problems or primer creep before I depend on it. Definitely do not need failures or jams in critical situations. It is a true 18.5 inch barrel. That's measured from the closed bolt face to the end of the barrel with a rod. That's how they're legally measured. So the barrel is federally legal by a half inch for even the most zealot LE. That said, this is still a very shot barrel and that is the truth of it. It's a short barrel that's only good for one thing. Huntin' quail in a barn. ;~) But for it's purpose, this is plenty good enough and well worth the money. Heck, it even comes with an extra modified choke tube. Why...I'm not sure. The cylinder bore tube in a short barrel is what you want to spray shot at close range anyway. The modified tube seems a waste, but it is better to have and not need than to need and not have. Oh, and if you decide to buy a ported or breaching choke tube, don't buy one for your factory Rem choke barrels. They won't fit this one. Or at least they are very different than the ones I have for my factory barrel. So I'd do a little research first. All in all, I've been buying from these guys for years and this purchase is just like everything else I've gotten from them. It is what they say it is, delivered just as they said and at a good value.Read full review

It fits good and looks like it's well manufactured. My only big gripe about it is that it's not recommended to shoot steel shot through it. So if you're planning to shoot steel shot through it you better look elsewhere. Another important thing to know when buying this barrel is that it doesn't accept Remington chokes. It's threaded for Win chokes.

Fit my Remington 870 Express Super Magnum perfectly. Great barrel for home defense. Makes the Remington 870 a great shotgun for both hunting (with a longer barrel) and home defense (with the 18” barrel). A must have for all Remington 870 owners.

It fit the 870 perfectly and gives me a tactical shotgun with 870 reliability. Easy conversion back to a field gun if desired because it only takes a couple of minutes to switch back.

I set up my shotgun for defense purposes. The barrel replaced my long barrel perfectly and works as intended.
