This works well to adapt an old IBM model M with a ps/2 cable to USB. Mine did have an issue where it wouldn't do alt + print screen correctly. I had to add this to the config file: remapblock EXTRA_SYSRQ PRINTSCREEN endblock That will fix it if yours is doing that. I have used the "blue cube" converter from the clicky keyboards site. That one works very well but needs something like autohotkeys to reprogram the keys where the soarer's can be programmed to remap the keys. There are pros and cons to each method. I find I still need autohotkeys to do everything I want to do. But this adapter/converter is a nice compact way to get your old model F or M to work in USB.

Bought this hoping I could get a cheap gaming keyboard with extra out of a 122 key IBM Model M without having to dump hundreds of dollars on a modern Corsair K95 or equivalent. Unless your already familiar with basic programming, it will take HOURS to learn how to remap an old keyboard. This adapter only allows you computer to merely recognize the keyboards existence. The drivers and software still have to be downloaded separately and will require you to know basic coding in order to use. If your like me and just looking for a keyboard with extra macros and hot keys then your better off just paying a little extra for a modern usb gaming keyboard. Without learning any key remapping, this converter alone will render any PS/2 era keyboard almost useless because you will have no windows, escape, printscreen, fn, numlock and many other necessary keys.Read full review

It is as close to plug and play as you're likely to find when it comes to vintage IBM keyboards. Make sure the keyboard is plugged in to the converter first, then plug the converter in to a USB port on your computer, and everything works! Plus with a little more work you can even map keys to macros, and a lot of other cool stuff. Highly recommended!

Even if you don't want to use the advanced features, it's worth it because this is a reliable, consistent adapter. I was having problems with other adapters randomly dropping a key when it was held down while gaming. This adapter fixed it, and as a bonus I've mapped F9 to replace the Windows key my Model M doesn't have.

The adapter worked out of the box. This unit replaced the cheaper adapter from Adesso. Adesso's adapter would freeze the PS/2 keyboard randomly. This converter works flawlessly. My only complaint is that is a bit pricey. You can get a USB NKRO mechanical keyboard for almost the same price as the adapter.
