This little unit packs a punch when it comes to it's usefulness, Small unit that acts like a big powerful unit. The features are something that rivals all other radios on the market. if you are looking for a radio that is family friendly, I highly recommend this radio, It will not do what a CB radio will do, but it's a lot of fun for the family.

This radio is very compact, but with few features, like no end-of-transmission tones. The included antenna comes with an extremely long coaxial cable which has high loss in the 462-467 MHz GMRS band (12 feet would have been plenty). As advertised, it doesn't work with GMRS repeaters. It doesn't have knobs for things like volume control. Everything is push-buttons and the buttons are not intuitive (for example, to tune NOAA weather you long-press the speaker button!). Some buttons are backlit, while others are not, making it difficult to operate at night. Although the radio does remember the last channel it was tuned to when it powers on, it does not resume scanning if it was in scan mode when it was powered down. The microphone cable is too short to reach my mouth when the radio is mounted under my dash. The audio is loud and clear, but it can be too loud even on the softest volume setting. I would have appreciated a mini-UHF or SMA connector instead of a UHF antenna connector. In summary, the MXT90 is a compact, no-frills GMRS radio for a reasonable price. If you want an easy-to-use GMRS radio with more features and can live without an external antenna, a FRS/GMRS radio like the Motorola T460 performs well and is less than half the cost of the MXT90.Read full review

I have had a CB radio in my vehicle for years and have used hand held GMRS radios for years as well. These radio are more small and compact than a CB and makes a great addition to my vehicle.

These little radios will surprise you, they do really good on open ground. If you hey in really big hills and hollows they will still out do the handhelds, but you may not get but a few mile out of them. They are well worth the money
