Worth buying!
I only bought Limbo of the Lost out of curiosity and it proved to be an above-average adventure game. It is divided into 5 chapters , each one being a self-contained mini-adventure with its own setting and puzzles and while some of the chapters are truly excellent , others are mediocre , at best. However , on the whole this is a pretty good game that is well worth your time and money. 2-3 years ago , it was practically impossible to find a copy of this game , since it had been withdrawn by the publisher due to copyright issues (the creators of Limbo of the Lost had "borrowed" (=shamelessly copied) the artwork of Morrowind , Unreal Tournament , Enclave and other games in order to create the backgrounds for their own game) but now it is available again at bargain prices and it is worth ... I only bought Limbo of the Lost out of curiosity and it proved to be an above-average adventure game. This game is trash. That is exactly why you should get it.
If you have any interest in this game, then you must already be aware of the controversy behind it. Most of this game is content stolen from other games (most egregiously, screenshots taken from games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enclave, or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which serve as pre-rendered backgrounds, but also other assets such as objects in the game or audio clips) and that in and of itself is pretty awful, but the content of the game regardless of all that is amazingly terrible. So terrible that you have to experience it for yourself. The visuals and animations make you wonder what the heck was going through the developers heads as they okay-ed this game for release. The graphics look like a game made in 1999, and it was released in 2008. The voice acting is abysmal ... Don't even get me started on the characters... One character you meet within the first like 5 minutes of playing literally has a homophobic slur as part of her name. And keep in mind, this game was released in 2008! The game constantly breaks the 4th wall by having characters, mostly the main character refer directly to you. And it is nearly impossible to sympathize with the main character, named Benjamin Spooner Briggs on any level. He will go from being kind and considerate to all of the characters he meets, to then all of sudden performing horrible acts of cruelty to them. All in all, this game is a perfect storm of garbage that makes for a near "The Room of Video Games" experience. Keep in mind that as this is a point-and-click, there will be puzzles, and like the rest of the game, most of the puzzles in this game are shockingly bad, and you may require a guide to complete it, but boy is it worth it. And don't worry about giving the developers or publishers money, as both have gone out of business mostly in part to do with this game. If you are like me and love bad video games and movies, it doesn't get much worse/better than Limbo of the Lost.
