I bought the Razr Hawk to replace my Diablo Octane. The Razr has two biases, Draw and Neutral, which make it easy to taylor your club head to your swing. I bought the draw bias, and it does just that. The Razr seems to be just a little hotter than the Diablo Octane, but they are very close. I do believe the draw bias has given me 5 to 10 more yards consistently off the tee. Also, this the I-Mix model, which allows me to changed shafts. I have done this after warming up at the range and finding out my swing that day is different than the last time I played. Very handy.
Bought this to replace a TaylorMade R9 460 driver which I was pulling left due to it's lighter weight. The Callaway Razr Hawk driver has a little more heft to it and you can sense where the clubhead is. I can take a fuller swint with the Razr Hawk and hit a nice little draw or straight. The Aldila RIP shat is great (more on the stiff side). Just wished the shaft was a tad lighter. Clubhead sits square at address and I hit this about 10 - 15 yards longer than the R9-460. Overall a quality club and I am getting great results.
I started golfing again after taking about 10 years off. I just used to get too frustrated and the game was no longer fun. I never hit my driver good and I was still hitting an old school driver that came with my $100 clubs circa 2000. I recently bought a cheaper clone 10.5* driver, but really sliced it bad. Was OB on 4 or 5 holes and was very frustrated. I hit the range 2-3 times a week for a couple months and still had the monster slice. I remember reading and hearing advice that beginners would be wise to go with a 13* driver. I figured it was worth a shot. When I saw this RAZR Hawk driver at 13.5* loft and a draw bias, it was love at first site! I watched youtube video reviews and discovered that Forged Composite was made in partnership with Lamborghini. (You had me at Lamborghini). I took this on the range the next day I got the club. Unfortunately it was a crazy windy day right into me. So it was tough to get a great feel of what it would do. I did pop it up crazy high to the left at times. Unfortunately I did that on the course my first round with it as well : ( However, on my second round, I decided to choke way down on the grip. I thought of this idea from little league and googled it to confirm this was something worth trying. And WOW, I was between 200-220 on the fairway all day! (Well, I did still have two bad drives, but that was me just getting sloppy or trying to hit it too hard.) It's such a great feeling putting yourself in a great position off the tee. LOVE this driver!Read full review
THE REASON I BOUGHT THE CLUB WAS, CALLAWAY PUT ON A DEMO.DAY AT OAKDALE COUNTRY CLUB. I TRIED ONE AND HIT IT VERY WELL. A WHILE LATER OAK. HAD A BRIDGESTONE GOLD BALL DEMO. THEY ANALYZED MY SWING AND SAID I SHOULD HAVE A STIFF SHAFT AS I SWING AT 98 MPH. I SWING A PING MEDIUM SHAFT. SO BEING THE CALLAWAY FELT GOOD I THOUGHT I WOULD BUY ONE. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT HASN'T FELT GOOD LIKE THE ONES I TRIED AT THE COURSE. WHEN I STRIKE THE BALL IT FEELS VERY HOLLOW. I DON'T GET THE DISTANCE I DO WITH MY PING SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I WENT BACK TO MY PING. MY PING IS PROB. AT LEAST 10 YRS. OLD SO I FIGURED IT WAS TIME. I WISH I COULD GIVE A BETTER REVIEW. MY SON IS TRYING IT NOW, HIS DRIVER HAS AN OFFSET HEAD AND IT GIVES HIM SOME PROBLEMS. HE DOES HIT THIS CALLAWAY BETTER THAN HIS, BUT STILL DOESN'T HAVE THE GOOD SOLID SOUND.Read full review
I bypassed this driver and kept my FT-3 until I bought my Xhot. Found the Hawk Neutral 10.5 degree driver. at a garage sale and bought it for 10 dollars. Wow what a buy. It has the RIP shaft in regular. I haven't used a regular for 35 years and I still swing a driver at 94-98 mpg. This regular has a stiffer tip which can handle that speed. It feels like a FT-3 without less of a thud when hit. It's only about 5-7 yards longer but easier to hit. I really like it.
