I didn't realize how much I needed this until after I bought it. I bought it so I could test a gas oven igniter that I suspected was failing (it was). Since then, I've used it to test circuits in the garage and fix a faulty ground while upgrading old fluorescent fixtures with LED shop lights, confirm a failed starter in my car before taking it out to replace it, and patch up some of my son's electrical toys. Leaves me wondering why I didn't get one earlier. One thing I really like about the Klein MM500 is the AUTO function. I just set it to what I want to measure and then it adjusts the range automatically. I also really like is how tough it is. My toddler got his hands on it and started beating it against a metal table before I knew what he was up to. It survived the beating and several drops since without a mark.Read full review

Only issue -- installing / replacement of battery is a real pain -- good that it won't need to be done often. Four screws then a knife pry required because of the waterproof seal o-ring gasket. Nearly idiot proof for use.

We use this meter daily troubleshooting residential irrigation systems. Have been using this model for several years for basic electrical testing. Tough unit for use in dirty wet environment. Carried around without protection in a tool bag.

Works great for voltage and continuity. Will not read amps. I use my fluke clamp for amps. This one is good for job sites because it will get a little beat.
