I didn't really intend to horse race speakers for my computer. After all, I'm setting the bar lower than I would for my main sound system. I'll get right to it. I took an offer to buy a set of Audio Engine B2 speakers for $200 shipped. Man, they got to be good with such a good name backing them. Got 'em, hooked 'em up and wondered if I had somehow made a mistake. Go ahead, stick your hand over your mouth and try to have conversation with someone. That describes the sound of these speakers. Not For Me. So, I asked the advice of a friend on the net, and he said, "Laugh if you want, but I bought these JBL speakers for $40, and my friends and I are surprised at the sound. So I look them up on Ebay, order them, and they arrive in 3 days! Good start I say. Then, there was absolutely nothing to hooking them up and using them. Most importantly, the JBL Pebbles really sound waaay better than I had expected. So now, the treble is there, the midrange is much clearer, and the bass is just enough for a desktop speaker. A Sub woofer can be added if that is your desire. Easy to love, easy to recommend.Read full review

Compared to my old JBL creature speakers and subwoofer, the sound isn't nearly as full and is not so adjustable. That said, they're good, and good enough.

These JBL Pebbles are the best set of computer speakers I have owned. Easy to hook up to my Mac Mini. What I love about them is that all I had to do was plug in the USB to the Mac and thats it. No 3.5 AUX cable needed. Overall the sound quality is amazing for the price. As soon as I plugged them in and heard them, I came back and bought a second pair. The speakers can sit about 28 inches from each other. Perfect for my setup. You guys will not be disappointed.

The cabinet design allows significant bass to be produced. There's DSP equalization so that amplifier power isn't wasted trying to reproduce bass below what the cabinet can do. And, there's some kind of wonderful power-supply magic where it harvests energy continuously from USB. They can get very loud--much, much louder than conventional USB-powered speakers. I will play small gigs with just a pair of these as the amp for my keyboards.

I used to be a DJ and small-time producer of music. I can tell you from over 15 years of experience that these speakers are an awesome value for the money. Sound fills the room. Not a lot of bass, but that's ok because the sound is great quality. After all, it doesn't have a subwoofer. But offers a good balance of sound.
