This is a tiny, reliable, and low power device. I've been using one as a home server running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 6 years now, and I've had no hardware problems during that time. The main limitation is expandability - you have one M.2 slot and space for one ~9 mm by 2.5" SATA drive, and any further peripherals will need to be external USB 3 devices. If you can live with these limitations, however, it makes for a great server.

My Intel NUC5I7RYH is equipped with 16 GB of Dual Channel DD3 RAM, a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SATA SSD and a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD. It is configured as a PLEX server that has, to date, performed admirably. No noticeable latency in serving up music, tv shows, or movies. Local sound is though an older NAD 3130 integrated stereo receiver into a pair of KEF Q1's and that little setup does remarkably well. I am still in the learning phase with PLEX and could run into some problems later on down the line. But, for now, all is going much better than expected. The four star rating is a result of fan noise. There is a good bit of time when the fan doesn't run, but when it does, it is loud. In fact, very loud for the size of the little box.
