In what is basically an animated Broadway musical 'Cats Don't Dance' is one of the most amazing animated films of all time. Not only are the characters and story fantastic it really sets itself apart in the animation. With such animators as Lauren Faust (who would later go on to Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, and others) the immense artistic talent of all the animators is visible throughout. Another thing that stands this movie apart is the creative use of color pallets. By using various tones and shades more detail, feeling, and power is put into the animation. Once you couple that with excellent songs, wonderful voice acting, and a great story you get one masterpiece of a film that tragically didn't have the right marketing behind it which caused it to be mostly forgotten. I'd recommend anyone to see this film, its excellent and gets my highest praise.Read full review
I never got to see this movie in theaters, but I bought the soundtrack on a whim and was instantly captivated! Shortly after that I bought the film, which is possibly one of the most underrated movies, mainly because it is not Disney. This movie is well-written, with catchy tunes, and very likeable characters. The Cinderella story is a bit predictable, but the characters are able to pull it off with style. The animation might seem a bit wonky to people who like their animation to be realistic (but let's face it, why would these people be seeing a movie with talking and dancing animals?), but for those who love the old animation styles, before computers took over for people, this is an entertaining movie to watch. Good for kids, but not really young ones, as there are some slightly scary parts (involving a large, destructive butler or a demonic song delivered by Lindsay Ridgeway), but anyone over the age of eight should be fine. I have been watching this movie for almost ten years, and it doesn't get old. This is a great family film, which is especially fun for people familiar with earlier 20th century Hollywood. Plus, Gene Kelly was the inspiration for the dance sequences (if not the choreographer; I don't remember). And we all know how well Gene Kelly works with the dancing cartoon animals.Read full review

What a classic - especially for a non-Disney movie. For the time, this family movie featured great animation quality and very good voice cast. My only complaint after having re-watched this is Danny's singing. Scott Bakula provides a charismatic voice for Danny... except when it comes to the singing parts. His voice is weak and lacks any particular personality; unlike Natalie Cole who was chosen to sing as Sawyer. Other than that, the movie is quality, to say the least, and I highly recommend it for any family. Humor, music, and fun are truly in surplus in this movie and I can't imagine a child, or even parent, being disappointed.
I used to remember watching this movie back when I was little, watching it again brings me good memories.
