After having and using the Bosch PS21 1/4 inch Hex Driver for some time I got the PS31 Drill to use also. Having the extra battery and charger from the Driver kit enabled me to get right to work. I have other 12, 14, and 18 volt drills and drivers but the compact size and light weight of the Bosch tools are very handy in some applications.

I got this as a companion for the Bosch PS41B Impact Driver. The PS41B is a beautiful piece of work; makes you regret all those times you used a powered screwdriver to drive screws. The PS31B is a drill/driver, a dual purpose tool. It works fine. As a driver, the clutch action works as intended, and it's handy to have it adjustable, especially for fine work. As a drill, you just lock the clutch, and fire away. The two-speed selector is helpful, depending on what you are making holes in. It is a compact tool, and plenty powerful enough to tackle everyday drilling tasks like half-inch holes in wood, or one-quarter inch holes in sheet metal. As a driver, it's fine for light assembly work, such as tightening small screws or nuts. For heavier fasteners, or carpentry (like hanging cabinets), I'd reach for the impact driver first. The tool is lightweight for its power, but it is a bit top-heavy, and invites a grip that rests the tool body on the top of your hand. But then, the direction switch is all too easy to press inadvertently (and the switch action is lighter than I feel comfortable with). Some folks have complained about the mechanics of the chuck (the "runout" problem); my unit was fine in this regard.Read full review
I like this drill. Nice and small but still very powerful. I would like the max speed to be a bit higher than 1300 rpm. What really annoys me is that the drill chuck has quite a wobble. I think Bosch could do better than this!

Don't bother with a rebuilt one. make sure it's new. My 1st was rebuilt and failed 1st year.

Great Bosch quality tool. Everyone seems to want bigger and bigger battery capacity. This smaller 12 volt drill is great for working in enclosed places and when needing to hold the drill above your head for periods of time. Yes for bigger projects and commercial work get a bigger drill or an impact driver drill. I have these heavy, bigger drills as well, but for many uses, this Bosch drill works great. Lot for combinations with the charger.
