I'm only a couple chapters in, but love the writing style -- simple, direct, slightly humorous. The author really feels like an expert who isn't trying hard to convince us he's an expert.

Everything any actor needs to know to have a GOOD audition! This was a wonderful book! I have dog earred and underlined all over the place. This book is a systematic approach to preparing for an audition, how to approach a monologue, how to enter the stage, what to ask and not to ask the auditors and etc. I learned so much that when I got an audition out of the blue the other day, I picked up this book and worked through my monologue using the techniques I have learned. I am approaching my audition with confidence. What more do you need?
This book is one of the most important to read to learn the audition process. Highly recommend.

I feel that this book is the best of it's kind. It helps aspiring actors/actresses to know what they need to do to be better prepared for auditions. I like the "The Twelve Guideposts" that tells you about the different relationships that actors/acresses must know to make their characters more convincing during auditions. This is a helpful guide to help you through any audition that comes your way. I recommend this book to any actor/actress to have in their library.
An interesting and fun read. I am an amateur theater actor and just started working in local theaters in the last few years. I worked many times in our local theater but wanted to audition at some new theaters and this book was priceless. I followed the advice, auditioned another theater and got the part I wanted. I highly recommend this book, its professional, humorous, and a fun. Good luck.
