These rail joiners are fragile. It is difficult to install them. I found filing the rail flanges to about 45 degrees helps. Also I adjust them on a piece of spare rail. Think of it as breaking in new shoes. I also use the spare rail as an installation tool. They are clear plastic and a magnifying glass helps. I broke a couple of them before using this technic. With care, I recommend this product. The alternative is to cut rails. I don't recommend that. Cutting rails must be done after they are installed and if you damage the rails, you have big problems.
