This is a pretty solid gateway, but beware speeds. I'm on TWC and was getting 230 down on their router. Since this is rated for 300, I thought I would get the same. TWC (and the others, I think) only provision 8 channel routers for 100 down. It is capped. Routers like this can do 300 in theory, but the providers won't allow it. That said, a router that will is a few hundred. It took forever to determine why I was getting 100 (actually 125) but that's the story. Still good speeds though, and I'm saving on modem rental. Oh, Netgear Tech support... don't bother. lol. Clueless.

Could not be more disappointed. Download speeds of 50 MPS using the ethernet cable. Using wifi it drops to 45 MPS if it is sitting right next to the laptop. Bring the laptop to the next room and it drops to 10 MPS. Bring it downstairs and it drops under 1 MPS if you are lucky enough to get a signal. This is a conventional stick built home. No steel beams etc. Just 2x4's and sheetrock. Same results with three different laptops. Carrier is Mediacom and the plan is for 60MPS max download.

Modem very easy to install and manage online. Modern sleek design looks good in the family room. Speed of the router exactly as my provider allows, so no problems uploading or downloading. Signal falls off a little at 25 feet, but my wireless printer still works well at that distance (in another room). Direct wire connection to my Roku, and the TV picture is truly awesome.

setup is as easy as pie. i am pc literate so i may be biased (if you aren't just follow the easy directions `in order`... but it took me 15 min (10 min modem doing its initial setup). using xfinity/activation page i didn't even have to talk to anyone, needed none of the new modem's info at all they just texted me a code and the new modem setup with all of the original modem's parameters.sweet!

Love the device and service area: wish the service was less EXPENSIVE! We used this to keep the kids online in school as we went on vacation. The only place it didn't work was out in the middle of the Navajo reservation in Northern Arizona (the cell phones didn't work either). Even when the device said it had only analog service, the kids were still able to connect to school and get their assignments. Very happy with the performance of the device. The service PRICE is another matter. I realize that companies have to make a profit.... SO, can't complain too much. Wish there were lower priced plans available.
