When Hogans Alley arrived (on time I might add), I tried it immediately to make sure it worked. The cartridge works fine, but the gun has some sensitivity issues (pulling the trigger does not always translate to a shot appearing on the screen), about this particular issue I'm not worried. The game, itself, is very simple and the graphics are by today's standards, obsolete; and I love that! Playing older games and game systems inadvertently sets off strings of flashbacks and/or memories. I think the recall of feelings and ideas from years past is a truly beneficial side effect to engaging in video challenges of times long ago (in terms of technology; to me the days of the NES were are not that far in the past). As a sound constructor, playing games on older systems give inspiration and ideas when shaping sounds on synthesizers (and judging from most modern pop and electronic groups, I am not alone). Hopefully, I will always have an affinity for older games and game system. I am of the opinion that it is good to hold on to pieces of your past (unless you are some sort of deviant, then one should seriously reconsider). As long as people are willing to part ways with their games and accessories, I will most likely be willing to part ways with some cash in order to obtain some of their games. Cheers!Read full review

What can you expect from an nes game. It’s a good game for the zapper. Just a classic shooting alley.

Ok so I know what you are thinking... why are you writing a review for Hogan's Alley? Well indeed the item was Hogan's Alley but why I bought it was for the Famicom Converter inside of it. This item is a great one to get if you do not want to spend the high dollar for the Famicom System itself, but you have to get the right cords for US stuff. Now I know a good bit about electronics but I didn't want to risk messing up my stuff so I opted for the converter. Now taking apart the cartridge was the tricky part. I didnt have the tool to do it so I had to cut it apart. This wasn't tough but time consuming. However when I got the converter out I was very excited. I really wanted to get it going but noticed immedately that the side of the converter needed worn down cause it was a bit too big to fit the Famicom cart. So after some dremeling down of the side, I got it to fit and it is amazing. I would recommend cleaning the converter throughly because the connectors were really dirty from being in the cart for 25 years. Overall very satisfying.Read full review
WOW! Great fun! Everybody remembers how Duck Hunt was so fun and the most popular Nintendo shooter of all-time, and well deserving of the credit, but you can't forget the reflex testing, "Dang it I missed" yelling, "Man, I hate this game" whining that Hogan's Alley delivers! This game is what the Nintendo Zapper was born for. It has a lot of different levels so you can't just get used to one. And just the simplicity and fun of testing your reflexes and coordination with THE classic peripheral is enough to make you want to buy an NES for this game alone!
