The EA Sports Nascar series has yet another installment of an already great franchise. In the 2008 version you won't find any changes, just the usual beefed up graphics and little tweaks. The only real changes in fact are the graphics as the gameplay and story modes are extremely similar. However, the small detail in graphics such as dirt acumulating on your view screen, the blurred vision on the outer edges of the screen, all the little things that make you feel as if you really are traveling at 180 miles per hour around a banked turn at Daytona. The only item lacking to get the overal Nascar experience is the lack of small local tracks, classic car racing, dirt track racing and all the little things that in real life a person would have to do to really make it even to the Whelen modified series. If EA sports included that, there would be no reason to ever purchase any other racing game from anyone else. If your satisfied with the graphics from previous versions, then there's no need to purchase the 2008 version. The tracks and cars all fare similar. But if you want those extra touches to make it feel more realistic, then 2008 delivers.Read full review
I am happy i bought this product. I was sceptical at first because all the game sites i went to gave this game a horrible score. It has a race now mode which is fun with a lot of tracks to choose from. Also this game has an Earn Your Stripes Mode which serves as the career mode. I have not completed it yet. So far it is chalenging but not rediculously hard. It makes you rac and you earn skill points from how you race. Eventually you will get liccences, they are required to move up to the next level of racing. The lisences are actually kind of difficult. They cost mony to scedule which you get from racing. The graaphics are not that great. The music only seems to have like 5 tracks because i keep hearing the same songs over again.
The graphics on an HDMI screen is rough, there is no spotter and the only way to control the race length is by percentage instead of number of laps. Otherwise, the game is fun.

EA sports just doesn't know how to create a realistic feel in their nascar game series. Many of the tracks you can drive on the apron just as if it were part of the track. The 40 or so adjustments is over blown. Nothing like the adjustments on the nascar game Dirt to Daytona, which is by far the most realistic game I've come across. Nascar 08 , when u make adjustments for ex. tire pressure, it's for all four at once, you can't run diff. pressures on each tire. Very arcade like game. Didn't find it hard at all. U can basically drive on and off the track with no diff. in speed or handling. Had high hopes. Hadn't even wanted an EA sports game for years because of the poor game play. The controls I thought we goofy. I'm just amazed people ok'ed this game for release. 1st race I did at Daytona I won and started 43 and was in the lead within 8 laps, and it wasn't even on the easy setting. If people want a nascar game were you can make adjustments on your car like individual tire pres. & tape on grill and more complicated setups and can live with an outdated roster of drivers , I suggest Dirt to Daytona. It is the best racing sim out there for the ps2. I can't recommend nascar 08 unless u want an easy game with no challanges. It strikes me as a game for kids age 10-12. Graphics are ok but with a car that can keep up with the leaders while driving on and off the track on the apron and such , it just makes me wish I hadn't a bought it. I should have been weary buying it used after it's only been out a couple of weeks, I guess someone else thought it stunk too.Read full review
What a sad example of a NASCAR game put out by EA Sports. EA Sports seemed as if they were on the right track in 2005 and have released a worse NASCAR racing game each and every year. This years (2008) release is way too simple and arcade like for the average 10 - 12 year old child. Save your money and purchase a classic like DIRT TO DAYTONA which is the most realistic NASCAR racing game for PS2. EA SPorts claims they are the pinnicle of Sports games for PS2. If they want to hold that title they better do better for us true racing / NASCAR Fans. WE DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS KIDDIE GAME !!
