The book was a clever idea blending fantasy, history, and romance. The antagonist did not provide the surprise, but the heroine does. The hero is sweet, but has a little growing to do and does as the story progresses. I confess that I must steal the thunder of a reviewer that I read at another site. DO NOT read the back cover of the book. HUGE spoiler! The mystery around the heroine is completely laid out with almost all the details. The fantasy part of the premise is a stretch for those who like their fantasy plots to 'keep it real', but for a light vampire romance here is your book. The romance is just that 'light' so do not look for intense sex. This is the first of three in a trilogy. Plot involves a concept that vampires are no longer with us because they have retreated into a parallel world of sorts created by the greatest and oldest vampire. Three greedy ambitious vampires are set to destroy this utopia and wish to go back to the 'bad old days' on earth. A charm that was broken into three pieces for safekeeping was left to the guardianship of three different ladies and it is this charm that the evil vamps must get. Three vamps of the good variety have been chosen to return to earth and become the guardians of these three ladies and their portions of the charm. The trilogy involves their three separate stories and those of the vampires connected with them.Read full review
