I can't say that I'm a great Eagles fan, but I do love Rock n' Pop bio's. I was drawn to this book after seeing the Eagles story on Netflix. This book is a great read from front to back. You really get to feel that you are personally involved in Don Felder's life. The struggle to earn money doing what you love can be tough. Don Felder worked at being as good as he could be and finally got his break.

I have loved the band The Eagles for many years. I feel I did not really need to know the information Ron Felder disclosed in this book. Some people may want to know all this stuff but I wish I didn't. This goes well beyond The History of the Eagles documentary. I can understand his resentment against the band members but it just makes me sad to know all the behind the scenes stuff. The used book I received was in fine condition, I was pleased with that.

A good book for the Eagle-phile. Its first person narative is fast paced and for a native Floridian like myself, the early chapters project how important Florida's 1960's college scene was to the development of groups like the Eagles, CSN, the Allman Brothers and the country-rock and Southern Rock movements. I read the book to decide who is right after watching the History of the Eagles documentary...in the end there are merits and admonishments should be given to both sides. Some times Felder has a real point, sometimes he is idealistic and simplistic, and other times he is just whining. I will say this however - this was much more emlightening than the Rolling Stone influenced, Ben Fong-Torres authored "Take It To THe Limit" - which seemed to be more about the writers of Rolling Stone than the Eagles themselves. The important part is that the music still stands as some of the best ever made. P.S. - Irving Azoff earns his moniker!Read full review
I am a full time professional musician, and read music biographies often. This book by Don Felder is very special. He did a great job at navigating his way through his story. He deserves as much credit as Henley and Fry, as does Meisner and Leaden. Don Felder’s writing “ Hotel California”, and his guitar parts on many Eagle songs pushed them to the upper eschelon. Frey and Henley’s need to have their names on every song and steal control from the other members, doesn’t change the fact that Felder’s contributions were significant and a big part of their success. The book was excellently written. I saw them live before Joe Walsh and with Don Felder two times and Don Felder’s importance in the band was very evident. Great Book, well written, true story, excellent read.
