I used this book to teach our 15-month old son, William, the words he needed, once we discovered the daycare was teaching him some rudimentary basics (milk, eat, change-for his diaper) and now William is two years old. The book is written in a dictionary format, with several examples of each letter (train, school, bear, bird, cry) and is easy to understand. The back of the book also explains in words the movement that the picture does ("cross arms in front and make scratching motions on each shoulder with the arms crossed" which explains the word for bear). He is learning to go potty now, and he looks at the book each potty-time, and points out the pictures and says the words, while my hubby or I sign them to him. He usually remembers the signs, and does them along with saying the words. We have learned a great deal with this book and I highly recommend it to people just starting out. The pictures are of children doing the signs, and many are wearing hearing aids, which I think was a wonderful touch by the artist who did the illustrations.Read full review
This book is a great book for kids both hearing and non-hearing. It is an alphabet book with the picture and the sign for the picture for each letter of the alphabet. I bought this copy as a gift to my non-hearing son's speech teacher. I have a copy for here at the house also. All my children enjoy the book and learning new signs.
