On the surface, this would seem to be just another slasher film -- a story about an unstoppable serial killer stalking his victims in rural America. And while it is true that the movie's content is undeniably in that vein, this remake of MY BLOODY VALENTINE rises above most other entries in the genre. You should certainly expect to see a fair amount of graphic, over the top, gratuitous gore and violence. But you will also be treated to a clever, stylish murder mystery that is well acted, well paced, and which will keep you guessing till the last act. Without exception, the characters are all believable and engaging. You will care about them, which makes this suspenseful rollercoaster ride all the more captivating. If you are offended by graphic gore, this movie probably isn't for you. But if you appreciate the Grand Guignol theatrics of an EC horror comic, then you are in for a real treat.Read full review

I have to admit - I'm not a horror fan. My first choice in movies is not usually one with a lot of blood, guts & gore. I'd never seen this movie before & only bought it because I'm a huge Jensen Ackles fan, + this was the first 3D movie distributed in decades. I was surprised that I really liked the movie, not just the actor. The first time I watched I had a friend over who is a HUGE horror fan. He said this is a good remake of a classic movie, and in his opinion better than the original. I watched most of it (I hid behind my hands a couple of really bloody parts) and thought it was quite good for the genre. The 3D effects were cool. Unfortunately that is the one bad point about the DVD. I'm told the 3D effects in the theater were awesome, but sometimes you just see a double image on the DVD, even with the glasses that are enclosed. My friend brought over his own fancier 3D glasses & they provided the same experience. Even with that flaw, if you like horror movies or are a Jensen fan like me, it's worth buying.Read full review
This movie is a very entertaining horror/slasher film with a lot of great 3D moments. Unfortunately, the DVD home version of 3D used on"My Bloody Valentine", "Journey To The Center Of The Earth" and "Friday The 13th Part 3" sucks. The "Real D" technology that is used in theaters gives you a great 3D experience. The "put red and green lines over a color picture" 3D that is used on the DVD wipes out the color and gives a very bad and out-of-focus 3D image. I'm sorry I missed this movie at the theater, because it would have been an amazing experience. There would have been some real "jump-out-of-your-seat" moments. With the DVD, you just have to use your imagination. MOVIE: A- DVD: F
I saw this film in the theatre and loved the 3d. I was not sure if the 3d would hold up when I got it on dvd. It does! The 3d looks great. Very close to the way it looked in the theatre. I am a huge film buff and have been for years, and I was amazed by how good the 3d looks. Now i have to point out that not every 3d effect worked. There was a few blurry moments. I would say 95% of the 3d worked great. You can get this film real cheap on ebay. I got my used, and it worked fine.
