A time capsule--enjoy the fashion and architecture of the 80s. A sweet and clever show, strong female lead, quite entertaining.

I remember watching Murder She Wrote when it was on TV in a day when they edited out the cursing. I was shocked when getting this DVD series and the first 3 episodes all had at least 3 curse words in it. My 8 year old was watching the first and I made him leave. I watched 2 more to see if it got better, but it did not. So, I will be getting rid of them and won't even watch any more episodes. There were also sexual suggestions in each episode as well. I imagine to some this is mild cursing and suggestion and compared to today's television, it would be considered very tame, but as a Christian, it won't be watched in this house. No cursing is acceptable to God, especially taking His name in vain and they did that in each episode. If you are a Christian, I would not recommend this series. I was offended and wouldn't let my son watch it. Our policy is, if our child can't watch it, we shouldn't be watching it as well as if you wouldn't want Christ sitting next to you watching it, you shouldn't watch it. Could have been a good show. Very disappointing.Read full review

If you like solving crimes without all the noise and blood and guts of the newest crime shows. then this is for you. I really like the fact that I didn't have to sit through loud music. vulgar language and look away from the tv every time a dead body was shown. The people were more realistic than the skinny young people they have on most of the shows today. The clothes don't show every thing they have and come on who wears 4" heels on the beach!!!!!!! Also there was not that much sucking face (because what they do is not kissing) and I don't remember seeing any body's butt. All in all I would recommend this as a nice relaxing tv show to watch.
I had never actually watched this series when it was on TV . But being a collector of murder mysteries I just had to buy this first season to fill a hole in my collection . I noted in the credits that Levinson and Link , of Columbo fame , were co-creators . It was obviously made as 'murder mysteries for the whole family' as everyone is sooooo 'nice' . The constant smiling and politeness gets a bit much after a while but on the plus side there are lots of old time TV and movie people taking lead or cameo roles . Like Juna Allyson and Van Johnson as an elderly couple , and perhps murderers ! All in all , a good buy for fans or 80's TV .
Mom liked it! This was the cheapest I was able to find the set on any competing websites (I'm sure that's subject to change and sales, of course). It was a big hit! I'd recommend this for your loved ones and mystery lovers! And let's face it. What isn't good if it has Angela Lansbury attached to it :-)? Lastly, the binding of the set was of good quality and looked great on my Mother's dvd shelf :-)
