This phone is OUTSTANDING for Public-Safety use as a work phone. It doesn't do cool stuff but it DOES DO all that a PHONE could ever do to save Your life or Assist You in getting Help to save the lives of others. It has a DIRECT TALK feature with a 5 plus Mile Radius closed circuit esque 2 way Radio function that WILL WORK IN A SUBWAY provided there are other units in the Mile radius in The Subway tunnels "theoretically". It is almost totally water tight and You can speak on it in a South Florida Rain Storm be in 1 of the stereotypical 10 Minute monsoon type rain storms or longer. IF it had satellite technology that it DOES NOT have it would be suitable for Military Use. Like the Space Shuttle it is in effect a BRICK that functions correctly LOL do NOT drop it On Your toes in the morning getting out of bed when waking up, again it is a BRICK usable as a PHONE to make CALLS this is the most reliable for TALK ONLY Phone You can buy in the United states that I am aware. I would stack it vs any other Phone For WORK made anywhere present. The "365IS" Model is the best I hear though I can only vouch for the standard i365 phone.Read full review
As many professional reviewers have stated, this phone just works! It's no smartphone, doesn't have many extras, doesn't play music, doesn't have a memorycard slot. What this phone DOES do is make calls. It has a very good speakerphone function, decent sized backlit keypad for obvious button presses, though the screen is small - it's clear and easy to read. It's primary battery is good for a full day without having to worry about recharging (i tend to charge it every two days). And the most important feature is this phone is built solid. Like it's predecessor the "i58sr" this phone can take a beating. Drops to the floor mean nothing to this phone, it keeps working. Bad weather, HA! This phone doesn't care about your stupid rain or mud puddles, it just keeps on working. Like any equipment, you don't want to go out of your way to damage your equipment but with this brick you can treat your phone like the tool that it is. Put it in your pocket, jacket, toolbox, where ever you need it, you'll hardly make a dent in this phone. I give it a rating of "Good", it's lack of extras are both good and bad points. It's not a pretty phone but when you need a durable work phone you can't go wrong with the Motorola i365. It keeps working.Read full review
I have liked all of the "300" series phones except for the I355(could not see the screen in the light). These are the last generation of real phones.(Rugged, can take abuse, can get wet, they don't require being "fliped"opened, can be dialed with large fingures). The last of the series had all the bells and whistles: Active GPS,text,games,e-mail,blue tooth, etc.,(Of course you have to pay for the services). You also got two way direct talk with them. The phone fits a man's hand.(Please don't take this as a sexist remark).I have bought a supply of the I315's and I365's for the future as these phones are becoming harder (especially the 365"s)to get. The 365"s were over $600.00 retail on a straight buy out.So if you need a real phone instead of a plastic piece of crap. Get them will you can. The sim cards will be available for a long while. They recongnize any 800-900hz signal(and will for so long as public communications is permitted). And yes they support the phoney sales gimmick 3G,4G, and The NEW Faster than Light: Super Damn Gee Whiz..What more could you want in a phone that can also be thrown as a weapon at a chipmunk?Read full review
The i365 won't win any awards for sleekness. Nor does it have an MP3 player, digital camera, or huge HD display for videos. What it does have is solid performance, the loudest audio of any Nextel phone sans the R750, and ruggedness that cannot be found on any consumer grade cellphone. They keypad can be operated with gloves on, it has a large PTT button, and a front facing speaker that can be heard over the sounds of heavy equipment with ease. The battery cover locks with a screwdriver, this should tell you this unit is designed for serious work. All connectors seal with O-rings as does the battery cover. Playing in the hard rain or water spray with an Iphone results in a useless paperweight. The i365 just laughs at it and shrugs it off. It does have a few advanced features, like Bluetooth and J2ME for adding Java apps, and MMS which let you receive pictures. However, you cannot save them as wallpapers, only view them. But then again, this is a business tool not a toy. And tools aren't meant to be decorated like Christmas trees. If you want a rugged, reliable communications tool look no further, you won't be disappointed.Read full review
this is the best pure cell phone made.that is not why i bought it.it has direct talk which is direct phone to phone communication, no towers needed. there is a rumour going around that the government doesn't like direct talk because it can be used a a poor mans secure comunication device. i'm not sure about that. anyways , i like it because it makes a great walkie talkie with similar range to frs radios but with more channels and it cannot be easily overheard like frs. direct talk doesn't need a service plan to work , just a sim card. there are 10 channels and 15 codes per channel plus a more secure option of a 10 digit code ,anything except 911 , the phone's phone number which you can change since theres no cell service activated. i have 5 365s put away for a rainy day .
