I recommend these radios to people that will need an inexpensive radio that can get into water. I have used them with my jet skis and they have a good signal reception. I had an issue with one of them that went inside the water and I had to wait until that one was dry in order to hear the other person clearly. During the dry period I did not have a good experience but after it got dry I had a good and perfect working radio. I have used the older models of Motorola and these are very good. The only thing that I will add is a higher volume. Once you are on a boat, jet ski going a high speed it will be very difficult to hear somebody calling but I have seen this issue with all of these radios. the other recommendation for Motorola will be to change the whistle clip to be a swivel clip. That will be better when you out it on your life jacket. Overall they are good and I recommend them to everybody. Read full review

The volume on these are pathetic! Do not buy! The maximum volume is barely loud enough to hear someone. I had seen a few complaints about the volume, but decided to try them since I loved my older Talkabout radios. If the volume was able to go much louder, than I would've been happy with these products.

PRO: water-resistant, bright color (easy to find if dropped,...). CON: Expensive, POOR audio, disappointing range of use, heavy, POOR Mfg quality. Not DOA, but almost unusable. I expected a lot more for something from Motorola (normally they are a manufacturer of quality products). These turned out to be a complete waste of money, and disappointing purchase. Our older, cheaper radios performed far better. We are going to have a radio tech look at their internals, to see if they can be improved; but we are not holding our breath.

The volume control goes up to 7 and even all the way up you can barely hear these things. You need to make sure you are speaking directly into them to be heard on the other end. I called Motorola to see if there was something we were missing or doing wrong and the tech said that is as high as they go and nothing we could do about it. We spent about $500 on these radios and were EXTREMELY disappointed.

the radios are nice but, they do not have a 35 mile range even on the water with nothing blocking, no trees or islands ect. I found getting 15 miles was the best I could do with these radios.
