Motorola used to be the industry leader in wireless phones. They are a non factor any longer. Google was said to be purchasing their phone division or patents. Same for Nokia. They used to be 1-2 in both the US and the world. Nokia is still huge overseas and FINALLY adopted the windows platform for their new AT&T and T-Mobile phones. Because of their worldwide sales they were still #1 in the world until Samsung passed them in worldwide sales in the last few years. Like Blackberry, they needed some relevant device again as they both rely solely on wireless revenue. The difference for Motorola was that they were a huge business before cellular was even a concept. Almost all 2 way radios, police, fire, etc. are Motorola made. Back to this review, my point was that Motorola has still always made the best bluetooth devices and still do, especially for the price. This particular model hasn't been made in years. Just like Motorola created the flip phone that everyone copied they created the flip open bluetooth earpiece. The only problem with that model is that there's no power switch. Opening it turns it on. So now that most cars these days come with a bluetooth system you need to take it off for your car to auto pair with your phone when you start it. If you want to leave the earpiece on so you can get in and out of the car and switch to the earpiece without having to take it off and put it back on every time the flip bluetooth earpiece is not the design you want. The non flip with a push button electronic power switch is difficult to know when it's on and when it's off. A sliding mechanical power switch like this model has is something you no longer see, switches for phones and accessories are all electronic these days. So this model makes it extremely simple to slide the switch forward to turn it on and back to turn it off. Press it in to answer and end call and has up/down volume keys on the top and bottom. Comes set up for the right ear but the ear hook easily flips over for the left ear and you can even set the volume keys for left ear orientation. Comes with 3 sized ear hooks, small, medium and large. Basically covers all your needs and the best design for use in conjunction with a car system. Too bad they don't still make this model, but from their current earpieces to their car speaker systems Motorola still makes the best sound quality and features like voice activiation in the business. Their phone sales may have basically disappeared but their accessories always worked with any other brand and are still of the highest quality in the business.Read full review
Always felt that Motorola bluetooth accessories had the best sound quality and reilablity of the brands out there and also at the best price. The flip open earpieces are their most popular style, but this style which they no longer make lets you easily turn the earpiece on or off while still being able to leave it on your ear. Everything has electronic switches these days, this style with a mechanical switch enables you to be certain if the earpiece is on or off without having to look at it. Just slide the power switch forward to turn it on and slide it back to turn it off. With almost all cars these days coming with bluetooth speaker systems this style makes it much easier to use in conjunction with the car system. You don't need to take it off of your ear every time you get in the car just to turn the earpiece off. Has all the features of the newer models but just like cell phones themselves these companies seem to constantly change the style of all of their products. So when you find one that works well for you if you need to eventually replace it by that time it's no longer available. In these types of cases we all luckily have eBay to turn to.Read full review
