I realize that movies and books are different art forms. Mother Night, the excellent Vonnegut novel was not translated successfully into the film medium. Despite some great performances, Mother Night, the movie, does not capture enough of the spirit of the novel to make it a good screen adaptation. It is worth watching but not more than once. I bought it thinking that it would do justice to the book as the, 'Slaughterhouse Five,' movie did for the book. Nick Nolte and the rest of the cast did an excellent job trying to make this movie work. James A. Baker Opelika, AL
Plot revolves about an American-German playwright (Nick Nolte) in Germany who wants to make a difference in the WWII and does without any fame or recognition and ends up sacrificing everythng he lived for. There are lots twists in the plot with even stranger characters.
