No other Mortal Kombat II version on any home console is superior than Mortal Kombat II on the Sega Saturn (although name accounting isn't there) it's still a great version, the music and sound effects are there. MKII is my all time favorite MK game. I grew up playing this on the saturn until my dad smashed my saturn into pieces lol.

Ah Mortal Kombat 2, my personal Favorite in the Mortal Kombat Franchise. As a mortal Kombat fan and Sega Saturn fan, I just had to pick this game up. I already own the Super Nintendo and Sega 32X version so I wanted this version to step up the next level of Arcade quality. I must say, this game does not disappoint. It is a real thrill to play this on the Saturn. I already own the Midway Arcade Treasures collections on the XBOX and PSP but the Mortal Kombat games in those collections are way to hard for me right now and zapped the playability right out of those for me so I bought this one and I kick butt like I used to. I will use this one to get better so I can stomp the much harder ones. This Sega Saturn port is not as Crisp and Arcade looking as those other Arcade ports but the Saturn version of Mortal Kombat 2 does look better than all others. I heard through Wikipedia that the Saturn version is the same port as the PS1 version and that this had no improvements over the PS1 MK2. Still yet, I prefer this version over the PS1 version still just because Saturn was far superior in the 2D game department over the PS1. Also the box stand out with it's Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and MK Trilogy family on the Saturn. If you can't go to the arcade and are fans of the SNES and Genesis and Sega 32x Mortal Kombat 2 games, grab this one for a brand new upgraded experienc on the Sega Saturn. I did and don't regret it. Pass it on.Read full review
Of all the fighting games that have been released, Mortal Kombat II for the Sega Saturn is the best choice. The game play is identical to the arcade and the controller enhances gameplay to the max. For those who have played the version for the SNES and Playstation, the comparison is like night and day: Super Nintendo, as great a system as it is, does not have the capabilities to handle such gameplay. The processor simply can't keep up with the speed that the game demands. Playstation is a great system, but the only reason why it surpassed the Saturn was name recognition. People simply gravitated toward the Sony name instead of Sega. The only problem that may arise wile playing this game is its condition; I have owned many copies and unless it is nearly mint, gameplay will be affected. Another area that must be looked at is the condition of the controllers; Because the gameplay is so fast, it is crucial tat the controllers that are being used work PERFECTLY. I have found that many of the Sega controllers, from the their Master System to the Dreamcast, were poorly made in that they were not durable. It is very common to come across a Saturn controller whose buttons do not work correctly. This will definately put a damper on gameplay.Read full review
The game works great, it came complete with the case, booklet, and art. It also came much earlier than expected. Thank you.

This game is flawed with the terrible original midi soundtrack. Otherwise fine conversion.
