This book was a real stinker; not too bad if you like Gothic sci-fi mystery that makes no sense, but when one expects to read a Faye Kellerman novel and be sucked into this potboiler (a book written in order to keep the stew on the stove) was a thoroughly loathsome experience. It made me worry about Mrs. Kellerman's mental health. Again, if it were in the gothic sci-fi section under a pseudonym, it might not have left such a bad taste in the mouth. It was the most peculiar sucked up by spaceships or evil forces in the desert book, an ending that seemed to be, "well, I'd better find a way to end this book, so I'll just make up something" bait-and-switch novel.
Faye Kellerman seldom if ever disappoints my thirst for mystery. I am a chicken at heart but her books are more captivating than scary. Jonathan Kellerman is her husband and his books are equally well written.
