I haven't read the entire book yet, but here are my initial reactions: it is an interesting read, and some of the information was new to me. References cited throughout the book aren't always cited, so you have no way of knowing if they are legitimate or not. One said something like, "An old remedy said...," indented the statement as if it were a quotation, but gave no reference to where this had come from. I found a lot of information in the book that should have been tied to references and wasn't. I also noted that no texts were noted (at least in my cursory reading) from the Bible where these cures could be found. One reference to rosemary being used to comfort the virgin Mary on her journey smelled strongly of "legend" and not scripture. As a matter of fact, the word rosemary is never mentioned once in the Bible (check it out on BibleGateway, if you want). Now, rosemary may have been a common herb back in Bible times, but it doesn't qualify as a miracle cure of the Bible, in my estimation, if it isn't spoken of in scripture. The author also cites the "bitter herbs" used during Passover, and without citing where the information came from, lists seven plants that comprised these bitter herbs. I'd like to know if the information is accurate and comes from a reliable source. So, all this to say, this is fascinating stuff, but I don't consider this a scholarly work that I would trust. I'm still looking for a scholarly medicinal that I could recommend without reservation; I haven't found one yet.Read full review

I was given a copy of this book by a dear friend. I loved the book so much I purchased another copy to loan to friends. This book is very complete and thorough as it relates to herbal benefits of herbs still being used today and history of these herbs and their uses back in Biblical days. Great reading and historical reference!! I recommend it highly!!
I have enjoyed reading this book because it is not written like an encyclopedia. This book is written with a writing style not usually seen in this type of book. I found the book very interesting and hard to put down. I recommend this book to be a very good read , and a very good book to give as a gift. More persons need to share this information for the health and well being of all. Faith or Not, these health principles make sense ,and are in my opinion good science.
