These cameras are fabulous! I purchased mine just over a year ago and have been infatuated ever since. They are positively tiny! The B is my favorite model because it is completely mechanical. You don't need to worry about changing a long-obsolete battery or running out of memory with these analog wonders! The built-in light meter makes taking great pictures a breeze. You can still get film for these little gems, although getting it developed requires sending it off if you don't feel like doing so yourself. Accessories for these cameras are plentiful and expand this little wonder's capabilities many times over. Don't be put off by its size - there is a Minox book with a title that says it all - Small Minox, Big Pictures! There are no substitutes for the tiny Minox!
This camera belongs in any collectors collection of subminiature and/or spy cameras. It is a first rate piece of equipment, fullfilling its inventor's (Walter Zapp's) goal of providing a camera that could be carried in anyone's pocket, ready for taking a picture at any opportune time. This type of camera was produced from 1937 (the Riga Latvia model) through the 1990s (LX version, proced in Germany). This model, Minox B, was the first to incorporate a coupled lightmeter. Zapp's company itself has an interesting history, with patents (and design work?) completed in Estonia, initial production in Riga Latvia, the company seized by Germany, then Russia, then Germany. The cameras proved popular with the major spy agencies, including Bill Donovan's Office of Strategic Services, later the CIA.Read full review
old camera and accessories were all as new except the light meter on the camera does not work. Everything else is fine. Decent purchase. Really fun camera and part of history. I had a metric version and wanted a US market camera market in feet and inches too.
I love these cmaeras and have several types.I collect them many are very old but most work fine. I think they are small enough to drop in your pocket and forget unhtil you want it.
