This flash can be used successfully at any aperture within range and ~ with an off-camera shoe and cable ~ for bounce lighting. If the x-700 is operated with its motor drive and the Power Grip 2, the flash can be operated at up to 3.5 frames/second. What it lacks is a wireless capability, but that's a minor factor for most shooting situations for all but a few of us users. Used on-camera, the flash is best used in light conditions that minimize red-eye. Otherwise, it works well for me and is easy to use in all but a few instances.
This is exactly the flash that I wanted for my new(ly acquired) x700 Minolta camera. I was very happy to acquire a new in the box flash for a camera built 25 years ago.

Konica Minolta's Electroflash 200X Flash is a great flash for the Minolta X-class cameras. With 2 manual and 2 auto settings available, it is versatile enough for a beginner or advanced amateur photographer to use. I was initially looking at the PX-class flash but I liked what this one has to offer.
It is an older flash but it powered up with new batteries

The 280PX Minolta flash is just what I was looking for to complete my X700 film camera. With the TTL built into the X700 the fill flash is always perfect. Shooting film once again I have found a new enjoyment in the hobby working in a wet darkroom even if it is just a few trays on ply-wood in my bathroom. B&W photograph from the late 60s is still alive and more enjoyable then ever.
