Herb Gustafson is very experienced with bonsai. He writes from experience. This book is very informative. Miniature bonsai have some different needs that larger bonsai don't have. Mr. Gustafson explains in detail exactly what these needs are. Also, the best way to provide those needs. Plants, pots, soils, it's all there. I'm a beginner to bonsai and I can understand what he's saying to do. That's very important in a 'how-to' book. He is very good at not 'talking down' to the reader. It's like he believes we have some sense. I like the little stories he tells as he explains how to or why to do different things. He tells how, as a young child, he would get small plants and pot them up in anything he could find, such as a thimble for one. Now I save my single serve applesauce containers, the small plastic containers the Taco Mayo uses for the picante sauce and queso, etc. I actually found some one-inch bonsai pots for sale on eBay. Now I have several miniature bonsai plants and they are so-o-o much fun.Read full review
Good information about how to create and care for miniature (mame, shito, and shohin) bonsai. The book was a little warped, but the description stated that it would have some wear, so I was satisfied.
