I didn't want any cables in my new condo so I bought this for my server, which is a bit old but all it does is hold data, backups, and allows me to control the internet at dinner time and kick the kids off the Network so I can get them off to school w/o distraction. So, it has been running consistently for years. The machine pushes out updates and locks down the network in case of an invasive virus, and allows all of my kids laptops to run via VPN at home so only family members know how much $ is available at the bank, not the 'Dark Web'. Good product, reliable, inexpensive.

I got this thinking it would give me WIFI capability on a Dell Windows XP computer. It connected to my WIFI but could not transmit through my WIFI. It also had the annoying habit of locking up the computer for 5 to 10 seconds and then releasing for 5 to 10 seconds. Needless to say, it kinda of worked and it kinda didn't work. I have lap tops that have no problem connecting with my WIFI and I have Dell XP Home addition that can recognize the WIFI but can not transmit thru it. I would have pursued the transmit thru problem if the soft ware did not lockup (no mouse, no enter, no nothing). The postage would have made the loss even greater so I just trashed the devise.

I had a desktop computer that wasn't set up to be wireless. I purchased the produce to eliminate my having to put the computer in an inconvenient place. Once I plugged in the adapter and ran the software I could put the computer anywhere I wanted. I'd recommend it for anyone who has the same problem.

Firstly driver disc was basically useless but luckily my computer found the proper drivers on it's own. It's okay for the price, I have a tp link repeater and i have the Ethernet coming from my computer to the repeater so I bought this to limit the cordage. Long story short while this wifi dongle gives more Mbps that my previous setup (100mbps vs 150mbps from wifi) the set up is maybe 3x faster than the wifi so I'm not sure what does that actually say. Is the wifi dongle lying or is the Ethernet set just better. But if you do not have a repeater/Ethernet set up I say this is a good cheap start
