Not only does the FSX Acceleration add-on contains three new aircraft, along with several new missions, it also installs (SP1) Service Pack 1. (SP1) was designed to address some of the flaws and slow frame-rate within FSX. The addon contains a single DVD disc and the installation is easy and takes about 15 minutes to load. I really like the new aircraft. However, the F-18 and the EH-101 helicopter don't contain 2D cockpits. However, both of course have the smaller VFR and 3D panels. I haven't flown all of the new missions, but they appear to be very exciting. Also, they added the Reno Race missions, for the P-51, if your into racing aircraft, and carrier landings and catapults with the F-18. Overall it's a great add-on for what you get. The Service Pack, the 3 new planes, and of course the added missions, makes it a economical buy.Read full review
My six year old son is all about airplanes, so this is excellent for him. He enjoys it allot. I spent some 14 hours and three days how ever trying to activate the product in order to use it. Microsoft tech support was helpfull and available and to there credit. This was a challenge to get the application to work in windows 7. We are talking command prompts and switches as well as four uninstall and re install as well as allot of time online discerning the articles in Microsofts extensive online forums. The activation process is what prevents me from giving FSX Acceleration an excellent five star rating. The simulator is excellent and all in all worth the expense and time spent installing the product.
Flight Simulator acceleration is good only if your computer can handle it.Do your research on your computers capabilities and the programs requirements. I was looking forward to adding this title on to my computer. Microsoft Flight Simulator X was working well with my computer score 3.5 and I enjoy it very much . I did not do enough research on the acceleration pack though because it was rated higher than my computer. I have a lowest score of 3.5 on my graphics and game card and 4.0 and 4.5 everywhere else and Microsoft Flight Simulator acceleration requires a 4.0 on your gaming and graphics card. I would recommend it if your computer can handle it. IF not, you will have to be happy with just Microsoft Flight Simulator X for now just like I have to for now. Thanks for reading my review.
I bought MFSX and I love it. It has become one of the things I look forward to playing when I have the free time do do so. So when I saw that there was the extension pack (Accelerator) I had to buy that as well (not really looking at what was even in the pack). I will be honest in say that it let me down big time. Maybe I got the wrong impression of what it was going to be, but I thought I was going to get another handful or two of aircraft's, and maybe some more cool missions (the ones I prefer). Well I haven't played it as much as I would like, but you only get three new airplanes and the missions are not the type of missions I prefer. Now if your into the whole Red Bull course flying, then this is something that will suit your needs. However, for me, I like to do rescue type missions. So it became a letdown when I found out it was only three (or maybe its four) aircraft and course flying missions. So that is why I give MFSX Acceleration an average score.Read full review
This addon is worth the money spent to get all of the added content. The F/A-18 is a remarkable jet fighter and it has amazing simulation controls. I purchased Flight Deck 5 for the naval aviation feature and that was a waste of money compared to this plane. The SP2 feature made the game feel smoother and definately improved online play through Gamespy. A very affordable and well-made addon for FSX.
