It is a varied selection of artists and genre typical to the eighties period such as Phil Collins, Tina Turner, Glen Frey and Chaka Khan. Some songs vaguely reminiscent of "Beverly Hills Cop", but that is not a bad thing. There is also a great song by Grandmaster Mellie Mel that reflects back to what Rap started out as and sends a message. Jan Hammer shines on this CD. Aside from the original theme song, he captures all of the intensity, drama and darkness of the original Miami Vice series through complex instrumental and intense percussion work. It is great listening on my drive to work in the morning and is almost as good as that first cup of coffee. I still have to pass the coffee machine when I get to work and pause...perhaps I need to pump up the volume!
Have had Miami Vice as my main ringtone for a couple years now, but am new to Ebay. Discovered all kinds of "older" CD sellers on Ebay and got a hankerin' for some of the old classic music from this original TV series with Crockett and Tubbs. What I was really looking for was the "Evan" theme which was not on iTunes. This CD is the only way to go (vs. iTunes) because it has two other songs on it which I didn't see on iTunes either that are must haves for reminiscing on the old TV show: Flashback and Chase - two great, mood-setting pieces. Had forgotten Vice, but as soon as I heard it from the CD, it was so neat - even remember the words from 25 years ago! Enjoy, especially if you liked this show. (Sound quality isn't as deep as newer, all digital music these days, but hey, it was recorded in the early to mid-80's - they didn't have the technology they do today, so just be aware of that when buying).Read full review
Nice mix of music from the show, with Jan Hammer's instrumental music pieces, Glenn Fry's "Smuggler's Blues" and, of course, Phil Collins iconic "In The Air Tonight." Put on your white suit jacket and pastel t-shirt and enjoy.

All the tracts are great. Close your eyes and you are transportee back to your TV when the series was popular. They don't make music like this anymore. This is aa classic. Lucky to find this CD. The BIG sound of the whole orchestra is in this music and you can turn it all the way up. If the music today is going to blow the ears off of the listener, join the group and go out with some great sounds banging around in your skull. I think that this is when the Tyko drum became popular. And are still popular today. When you find a jewel like this, and already know that the artist is great. No question, grab it and listen to it untill the grooves wear down. No grooves ? Well then it will take longer won't it. This is the way to go!
