This is a double CD recorded in Mexico in the days immediately preceding stereo. The 1st half is from the CD "Las Tandas de Juan Garcia Esquivel" and was produced in the style of old radio big band remote live broadcasts with an announcer speaking Spanish. Tracks include rather traditional renditions of American big band classics like String of Pearls, Night Train, Don't Be That Way, Dancing on the Ceiling, and two medleys sampling Blue Moon, Street of Dreams, White Christmas, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Kalamazoo, and Tuxedo Junction. Sambas, Rhumbas and Cha-Cha's display more creative Esquivel arrangements which his fans expect. There are a couple awkward tributes to American Rock n' Roll, the closer being a medley of U.S. military branch themes. Audio quality is compromised. The 2nd half was previously released as the RCA CD "Exploring New Sounds in Sonorama" ("To Love Again"). Apparently, "Sonorama" was RCA's version of fake stereo that Capitol called "Duophonic". More exciting and satisfying Esquivel can be found elsewhere in real stereo with better quality.Read full review
