Lucchese is a brand of cowboy boots that was founded by Salvatore Lucchese, the son of an Italian boot maker. In the 1880s, Salvatore and his brother moved to San Antonio to set up a boot making shop. Today, the Lucchese brand offers cowboy boots using several types of leather.

This varies according to season, tastes, trends, and demand. However, there are several types of Lucchese cowboy boots that seem to reappear consistently. They are western boots and roper boots, which are the two main types of cowboy boots.
- Roper boots are a variation of British boots attributed to Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington. Ropers have shafts that stop below the midcalf, a fairly pointy toe, and they boast fine leather uppers. Similar to Hessians, ropers typically have 1-inch heels, much shorter than those of western boots.
- "Western," in this sense, refers to classic cowboy boots. They have shafts that are at least midcalf as well as angled heels taller than 1 inch. The overall shape is either pointy or rounded to a slightly pointy tip.
Are ropers and western the only types of Lucchese boots?

The company offers styles in all widths, from narrow to extra wide. According to standard shoe widths, the letters "C" and "B" indicate narrow widths. "D" and "M" are medium widths. What is Lucchese Goodyear welt construction?
Goodyear welt construction is not unique to Lucchese, although the company incorporates the technique into many of its annual collections. Goodyear welt construction features one line of stitching through the insole, upper, and welt strip, and another line of stitching to attach the welt strip to the outsole.
The company also uses the McKay construction, another classic boot construction technique. With McKay construction, the artisan removes the welt and sews the outsole directly to the insole. Both techniques enhance the durability and comfort of boots, eliminating the possibility that the outsole will detach or wear down or that the boot will take on water via the outsole.
